Day 2: Trekking about 12 km. The bus brings us to the Matese Mountains and Campitello di Sepino (1100 a.s.l) where we walk the path called “Sentiero 3 frati”. At lunchtime we visit a noted farm which produces superb local cheeses; we stop here for a light lunch consisting of products from the farm. After lunch we enter the “Royal Tratturo Pescasseroli – Candela” that crosses “Altilia”, an important archaeological site with remains from both the Roman and the Samnite period. After the guided tour the bus takes us back to Ripabottoni. Traditional regional dinner.
Day 3: Castle ruins, Regi Tratturi, Truffles Stop At: Castello d’Evoli, Castropignano, Province of Campobasso, Molise Castle ruins, Regi Tratturi , Truffles Trekking about 14 km. The bus brings us to Castropignano village. Our trek will start from the Castle along the Regio Tratturo Castel di Sangro – Lucera. During our lunch stop we will have the pleasure to taste the fresh, high quality truffle that is picked in Molise. We continue our trek along the Tratturo up to Ripalimosani village. Time for a coffee and walk in the village. We return to Ripabottoni and a traditional regional dinner.
Day 4: Walk about 6 km. After breakfast we star t our walk directly from Ripabottoni. Today’s destination is Provvidenti, a very small village about six km away. Our picnic lunch today will be in the little square of the village. We return to Ripabottoni by car and a relaxing afternoon. Late in the afternoon pizza preparation and Pizza dinner in the garden.
Day 5:Trekking about 12 km.The bus takes us to Marina di Montenero di Bisaccia where we start our trekking along the sea up to Torre di Petacciato, a ruin of an ancient tower. Time for a bath (depending on weather conditions). Transfer to a winery for a light lunch composed of bruschetta, vegetables and products of the territory with wine tasting. Transfer back to the beach and trekking up to the ancient shermen’s village of Termoli. Leisure time and shopping before our outdoor traditional fish dinner. The location allows a fantastic view on the sea. After dinner the bus takes us back to Ripabottoni.
Day 6: Trekking about 12 km. The bus brings us to Casacalenda. Today’s trekking is along the beautiful Valle del Cigno up to Larino, a very important city of the Samnites, the first people of this region, defeated by the Romans. After a quick visit to the city, our time will be dedicated to high quality olive oil and its production. We will taste the exquisite Larino’s olive oil that we get to try during the light lunch served at a private house. We continue our trek on via Francigena and Tratturo before coming back to Ripabottoni. This evening we will have our traditional dinner in a restaurant not far from Ripabottoni.
Day 7: Time to say Good-bye to Ripabottoni.
